Tampontification

You probably have never thought of this, but women's shelters in the U.S. go through thousands of tampons and pads monthly. Assistance agencies generally help with expenses of "everyday" necessities such as toilet paper, diapers, and clothing, but one of the most BASIC needs are overlooked - feminine hygiene products. (Who is at the helm of the funding assistance agencies anyway!?)

Seventh Generation, a green paper products and cleaning products company, has a do-good attitude and will donate a box of sanitary products to a women's shelter in your chosen state - just for clicking the link. Talk about easy (literally takes less than 1 minute and they ask nothing of you). And, yes, it is legitimate!

Oh, I'm so glad you found this site! I was on a mad letter-writing campaign when the Asian tsunami and hurricane Katrina hit trying to look for feminine hygiene supplies. I even wrote to OPRAH! I heard about the dire needs of women in the mostly Islamic parts of Asia in need of such supplies and couldn't get them. Can you imagine these extremely modest women having to go through the disaster of watching their entire life washed away and doing it while on their menses AND NO supplies!? Of all the agencies, newspapers, etc., that I wrote to it was Johnson&Johnson Company and Direct Relief Int'l that said they would donate. NOT Oprah! So, yeah, this is a great addition to my list of organizations to hit-up next time!

Hi sis, yeah, it's one of those necessities often overlooked. I didn't really think about the issue until I started reading about it...it's one of those things that you take for granted and then realize just how important it is when you lose it.

hi petite, I agree, I like the one click ease, so I thought I would extend it a bit by spreading the word.

hi dexie, thanks. It's an issue that doesn't get a lot of attention, so I was glad to do it.
