Juice Fasting

Have you ever heard of Juice Fasting? Jade was into a juicing frenzy not too long ago where she was juicing just about everything in sight and really getting value out of our juicer. What she didn't realize then, was she was almost on a juice fast!

Being on a juice fast means that you only consume juices of fruits and vegetables. This is a method of detoxification to rid the body of toxins. Juices are utilized because it takes less energy to digest thus making more energy available for the detoxification process. The length that one can stay on this fast can be as little as two days once a month or a week once a year.

Typically, the fast starts a week prior when intake of alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, sugar, dairy, fish, pork and beef is gradually stopped. During the actual fast, juice is sipped throughout he day. Water is permitted; however, strictly speaking, solid food is not. After juice fasting, solid food is gradually reintroduced to the body.

As with any diet, it is highly recommended that you consult a physician and weigh the advantages vs. the disadvantages of undertaking the diet.

I tried this for just once and never again. I can't live without solid foods :) A friend also told me that you should not drink your calories because you will feel hungry more often.
