Students Abroad

I have two daughters who are college bound. They are now planning on where they want to go to college and they are both leaning towards moving away from home and possible even spending some time abroad. My daughter Asi would like to go to Japan or somewhere in Asia and Jade is leaning more towards Europe.

I sincerely hope their dreams and aspirations come true. I'd love to see them spread their wings even though I will probably have anxiety attacks the whole time they are away from home. But, I guess that's what we as parents have to do, let go.

We can ensure some peace of mind when our children are away by making sure that they are going somewhere that is as safe as we can get them to be.

If you have a student studying in the UK, for instance, make sure you contact a reputable agency to find accommodations for your student. Consult with the school and get references from people who have been there. There is one property management company, Pickard Properties, who specializes in renting to students in Leeds. They have years of experience in student accommodation leeds and were voted as number one landlord by the students themselves.

The key, again, is doing your research no matter where your student is going. If you can afford to visit beforehand and scout out the place where they will be living, that would be even better.

My daughter is attending Birmingham University, but wanted a place to share with her friends so she could feel more independent. I got in contact with James Laurence estate agents and managed to help find her a large flat just 30 minutes away from the University. It is fairly expensive, but I want her to enjoy the experience and I will help her as much as I can as we only live once.
