When your bedroom becomes the social center for the family as ours has become, you need a way to protect your bedding unless you want unidentifiable stains and other unmentionables on it. Having five people practically living on your bed, especially now that summer vacation is upon us, can wreck havoc on your bed spread. We ruined a favorite bedspread by washing it too much, believe it or not.
So I am glad to see that quilt covers are gaining popularity in the U.S. The first place I had ever seen a duvet cover was in Europe. I thought then what a simple and useful innovation it was. You could of course make one yourself, they are very simply as I've said, but if you are short on time and talent as many of us are, then buying them pre-made may be our only option.
