I'm Yours

I can't help but be such a teenie bopper sometimes. What can I do, I hang out with teenagers more than people my age. Even my taste in music is starting to take a lean to what they like. Take Jason Mraz. I had never heard of him before buy my daughter Jade has gotten me hooked, especially to this song, I'm Yours. This rendition is not Jason Mraz though, it's another talented artist who just did an awesome job harmonizing with himself. I'm glad to say I discovered this one and was the one to send it to Jade for a change. lol!

How did you like it? Pretty amazing, don't you think?

Now if only their teenage hormones don't transfer to me to top my pre-menopausal ones, I'm fine with the teeny bopper lifestyle. Just so I don't have to bother with acne treatments and that kind of stuff.

Bingo!

You remember playing Bingo as a kid? Bingo is probably one of the easiest and most fun game to master. That's why you still see a lot of people playing it as seniors. :) I remember a time in high school when, for some reason or other some friends and I got addicted to playing bingo. So much so that we even had a bingo night at school as a fund raiser. I don't know if it's the prizes or just the fun and camaraderie of being with friends (prizes :-P ) but it was an activity that we all looked forward to . However, we had to keep it on the down low since it just wasn't cool to be playing bingo when you're a teenager.

When my girls were younger, bingo was a game we used to play a lot with them too. It taught them to recognize their numbers and letters, taught them rules, patterns and taught them how to enjoy just being together with their family. As with most classic games, Bingo has gone digital. I don't know if my girls have outgrown playing bingo, but I think any kid would love to play Disney Bingo. Actually, I know the girls would love playing this Disney Bingo with their little cousins.

The Disney DVD Bingo can provide hours of fun as kids learn their numbers and colors with their favorite Disney characters. The DVD is designed for kids 4 years and older. If you know a kid who would enjoy Disney Bingo, make sure you visit Amazon.com or Drugstore.com to purchase your DVD. Check out the video below:

Make your own Dockers Commercial

240x180

Do you like making videos? I won't ask if you you like
Dockers, because, who doesn't? Even if you're not an avid fan, I bet you have a pair of khakis or shirt somewhere in your closet with the Dockers label on it. It's just classic wear!

Now back to the videos. If you like making videos and you also like Dockers, then you are perfect for the Dockers contest. Aspiring videographers and marketers are all invited to enter the contest. All you have to do is make your own Dockers commercial and submit it on the site (it's easier than uploading a YouTube video). Be as creative and crazy as you want to be. There are already several entries on the site and some are really very good!

For instance, there is one reminiscent of The Mexican movie, a very funny and original video called Do it in Dockers. Then there's the John Melendez video. He's the producer on the Jay Leno show so I don't think his entry counts. Plus, it's already been shown on the show!

By the way, the winning entry could be played during Jay Leno's Tonight Show on June 13, 2008. Awesome way to kick off a budding career, I think.

So get on over there and enter. You have until June 6 to submit an entry. Visit the contest website for full details but here are some requirements:

· Max length of video is 30 seconds

· Don't use copyrighted images or music - all entries must be original

· Upload your video in one of these formats: QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG

· Entry must meet all contest requirements. See the full and detailed list.

Old cars, boats and RVs make these

I have an old car sitting in the driveway and it’s been there for a couple of years. No one drives it although it was still running when we parked it, it's probably not now. We’ve contemplated selling it, but we’re too lazy to go through the hassle of cleaning it up, fixing it and advertising it. So now we’re looking to give it away. Just have someone come and haul it away just so I won’t have to look at it again.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had this problem. One way to solve this problem is to donate the car to charity. Rather than just tossing it away and getting no benefit from it, why not donate it and help someone out at the same time? There are a number of places like Car Angel Ministries who will accept your car donation and use the proceeds to help someone else. Car Angel is a non profit organization which produces Christian videos for kids and teens like the one below. They will come and pick up your old car for you and you get to claim the donation on your taxes. They don't just take cars, if you have a boat or other type of vehicle you'd like to get rid of, consider donating it to charity. It will save you a lot of headache and trouble.

Thrillah in Manila

Well, not really Manila, but Cebu, a city south of the Philippines' capital. If you are a famed dance choreographer accused of mass murder, what would you do? What if you are surrounded by full blooded 'brothers' what would you do? How about this?

The dancers in the video or prisoners in the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines. This video has been another one of those internet hits, garnering the youTube site over six million hits since it was first uploaded last April by Byron Garcia. The group of prisoners started the routine of mass dancing as a form of exercise and this is the result. If they can work this well together, at least it is for something entertaining for god forbid they get this organized to do something criminal. Now that would be scary. Several well known publications have even taken notice:

JailHouse rockers featured on Rolling Stone

I'm waiting for the Dancing Queen video. :D

Scared Witless

The first time I saw Halloween the movie was in the late 70's, early 80's and I believe that was the time that Jamie Lee Curtis was doing all those horror movies. This was all during the time when Jason and Freddie Kruger were at their height. I was a teenager, and thought it was loads of fun to be scared witless. Yeah, I could have used another word there, but this is after all a family blog. I still remember not being able to shake the terror from this movie especially since the following week I was scheduled to donate blood for the first time. You remember that scene in the movie where the person's blood drains all over the floor? Yeah, I still remember, and I still remember the name Michael Myers. How about you?

Halloween the movie is being resurected almost thirty years later (omg, has it really been that long?!!). This version is written and directed by Rob Zombie. What a great name to write and direct a horror film, eh? I wonder if that's his real name or a made up one? You think there will be zombies in this one? No, no zombies. This time around, they turn back time to uncover what made Michael Myers the pathologically disturbed psycho that he is. Could it be that he was abused as a child or is he a product of a perfect household? Was there a traumatic event in his childhood that somehow twisted his mind? What can possibly make a monster like Michael Myers? Look at this trailer and see if you can guess what spin Rob Zombie will bring to this version of Halloween the movie.

The Web on You Tube

I found this cool video on the PPP Blog and although it had apparently been on the web for a while, I hadn't seen it before either, so I thought I would share it too.

Travelling with Children (The Clone)

Ever since my girls were newborns, we've always travelled with them. They are normally pretty good during our usual travels, but sometimes, like this weekend, being cooped up in a small space with your sisters can become too much. This is just a short taste of how our trip was this weekend...

This is the Clone whose sole purpose, it seems, is to annoy her sisters anyway she can.

JR & Joy Dance

I'm experimenting with uploading videos on photobucket, so I thought I would share this little dance with you. We attended my cousin JR's wedding while we were in the Philippines last December, and this was taken during the reception/after party. As I may have mentioned in a previous post, my people are of the indigenous tribe called "bago". This is a modernized version of a tribal dance. If you watch, the bride was a bit hesitant about dancing, but one of the old lolas (grandmas) got in there and showed her how it's done. It was a lot of fun, and the girls got to witness a little bit of tribal customs.

BTW, Jade and I have been wondering what that background music is. I think it is a malaysian song, but we never did find out the name or artist of the song. If you know, please leave us a comment.
