Vanilla Twilight

I think I need to start taking some of those vitamins for women because every month, around that crucial time with the dirty acronym associated with it, I get overly emotional and fatigued. Maybe it's hormonal, maybe its the other ugly word, menopause, that is slowly creeping in. It's kind of weird, when you're young and going through PMS, your hormones are revved up and exploding but when you're older and close to the big M, it feels like they're already dying and deflating. Am I the only one who's noticed this?

Because strangely, when I heard this song below, a favorite on my playlist, I felt the strangest sense of melancholy and sadness. It's like missing something but you don't know what it is. But, it could be just the hormone's acting up... or down, depending on how you look at it. I think I need to switch to the salsa channel and get myself revved up instead.

Love Song Fest

I love music... I listen to just about any kind of music but just like my taste in books, I do tend to lean towards sappy stories and cheesy love songs. So in celebration of those tendencies, I am holding a love fest on Facebook and on Amoores.

I can't help but be such a teenie bopper sometimes. What can I do, I hang out with teenagers more than people my age. Even my taste in music is starting to take a lean to what they like. Take Jason Mraz. I had never heard of him before buy my daughter Jade has gotten me hooked, especially to this song, I'm Yours. This rendition is not Jason Mraz though, it's another talented artist who just did an awesome job harmonizing with himself. I'm glad to say I discovered this one and was the one to send it to Jade for a change. lol!

How did you like it? Pretty amazing, don't you think?

Now if only their teenage hormones don't transfer to me to top my pre-menopausal ones, I'm fine with the teeny bopper lifestyle. Just so I don't have to bother with acne treatments and that kind of stuff.

Women in Art

Women and Art is just something that interests me a lot and I am not alone. This is one of my YouTube video favorites. I love how the images morph into one another. I love the accompanying music. I think this is one of the best art video I've seen. It is just awesome! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Old cars, boats and RVs make these

I have an old car sitting in the driveway and it’s been there for a couple of years. No one drives it although it was still running when we parked it, it's probably not now. We’ve contemplated selling it, but we’re too lazy to go through the hassle of cleaning it up, fixing it and advertising it. So now we’re looking to give it away. Just have someone come and haul it away just so I won’t have to look at it again.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had this problem. One way to solve this problem is to donate the car to charity. Rather than just tossing it away and getting no benefit from it, why not donate it and help someone out at the same time? There are a number of places like Car Angel Ministries who will accept your car donation and use the proceeds to help someone else. Car Angel is a non profit organization which produces Christian videos for kids and teens like the one below. They will come and pick up your old car for you and you get to claim the donation on your taxes. They don't just take cars, if you have a boat or other type of vehicle you'd like to get rid of, consider donating it to charity. It will save you a lot of headache and trouble.

Thrillah in Manila

Well, not really Manila, but Cebu, a city south of the Philippines' capital. If you are a famed dance choreographer accused of mass murder, what would you do? What if you are surrounded by full blooded 'brothers' what would you do? How about this?

The dancers in the video or prisoners in the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines. This video has been another one of those internet hits, garnering the youTube site over six million hits since it was first uploaded last April by Byron Garcia. The group of prisoners started the routine of mass dancing as a form of exercise and this is the result. If they can work this well together, at least it is for something entertaining for god forbid they get this organized to do something criminal. Now that would be scary. Several well known publications have even taken notice:

I'm so glad I never had this kind of trouble from my girls. They always had vegetables with their meals, it was never an option to not have it. Meats are optional, not veggies. They are always amazed when they talk to their friends and even teachers and hear how they don't like to eat certain veggies or even any vegetables at all. Their friends and teachers in turn are surprised to learn that these girls will eat just about any vegetable put in front of them (provided it's not overcooked). At one time I had to cook artichokes for the kindergarten class because even the teacher did not know what artichokes are or how to eat them. Great show and tell!

Tenk you, tenk you

Before we left for vacation, I had written this for Blogkadahan.com:

Although we may not have looked like the Christmas card images of carolers, visiting neighbors and singing Christmas carols during the holiday season has been indelibly inked into my memories. The music has always touched me and given me great joy as a girl, even to this day. It's not because I sang well, but I enjoyed singing nonetheless and the cameraderie with friends was unforgettable. Back then, I relished going to church for the midnight service and midnight snacks afterwards. Even though there was no snow, I even enjoyed the shivers of being out in the cold so late at night with the festiveness in the air and the promise of something warm and delicious at the end of the evening.

These are a few of the things that I would like my girls to have a taste of. I don't know that things will still be exactly the same, I'm sure plenty have changed in the last thirty years or so, but my hopes are high that a little of the magic can still be found. With the help of extended family and friends, I think it just may be possible.

I was really looking forward to sharing with the girls the tradition of Christmas carollers while we were in the Philippines. I was hoping maybe they would even learn to sing a Filipino Christmas carol or two.

They did enjoy listening to the numerous children and church groups who graced our porch steps nightly, serenading us with their renditions of Christmas songs old and new, in English and Pilipino. They were particularly tickled by the bands of little kids from the neighborhood who, after being rewarded with a few coins and some candy, always ended their performance with a rousing rendition of "tenk you, tenk you, tenk you berry much tenk you!!"
