A walk downtown

Every year for the last five, we had participated in this annual community event for non-profit organizations in the area. It is a fundraising event which culminates with a 5K walk/run through downtown Durham. The girls and I had a busy weekend starting with this event. They at least get an extra day to recover, they are off from school tomorrow, but I have to go to work. So I'll make this short and just share these photos with you.

The walk started and ended at one of Durham's landmarks, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, home of the Durham Bulls (minor league baseball team) and wound it's way around the streets of downtown Durham.

Visit us In Our Backyard for more photos of the sights in Durham.

I'm glad you had such great weather. When my daughter and I did a 5k charity walk/run, it was cold and rainy. She was not very happy. I enjoyed your pictures. I've never seen the stadium other than from the movie Bull Durham. Our old stadium was in the movie too but we've got a new one now.

Hi joan, yea, the weather was great for walking! I was so glad because last year when we did this, it was wet and cold like yours was. This stadium is actually the new one. The old one is still on the back side of downtown, but it is not used much anymore. They used to have the farmer's market there on saturday mornings, but as you can see from the photos (on the other blog) they are now building us a new farmer's market.

Hi leah, you're right any form of exercise is a great destresser. We all felt better afterwards. The funny thing though, everyone wanted to go and eat out. lol!

hi hipncoolmomma, yeah, it was really fun. I had a bit of a hard time because of this nasty cold I still have, but I survived :)

tama, ann! and with the girls along, we hardly noticed how tired we were.
